Sales Tax is imposed on the sale of goods and certain services in South Carolina. The statewide Sales and Use Tax rate is six percent (6%).
Counties may impose an additional one percent (1%) local sales tax if voters in that county approve the tax.
All retail sales are subject to the Sales Tax.
Any business that sells products in SC must obtain a Retail License from the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR).
A Retail License is obtained by completing the Business Tax Application using SCDOR's secure application portal MyDORWAY.
Once this account is established a business can use their MyDORWAY account to report sales and submit tax payments.
