Industry licenses are unique to specific sectors of a particular industry. Industry licenses differ from professional licenses because they are determined by a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code. The NAICS is the U.S. Census Bureau’s standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.

The South Carolina Business One Stop (SCBOS) has gathered guides for common business types that list potential registrations, licenses, and other requirements related to that industry.
